Why Blockchain Publishing?

Since the Comics Code was introduced decades ago, the powerful messaging of comics has been controlled.

Even today, comics and creators that don’t fit within modern societal ideals are canceled, deplatformed, funds are withheld from crowd-funding, and more.

Our mission is to let creators tell their stories, without censorship. And blockchain is the technology that makes this possible.

How Blockchain Works

Blockchain runs separate from any banking system and does not need approval from banks or ecommerce merchants. Anyone in the world can use an exchange, like Coinbase or Transak, to purchase cryptocurrency. This currency becomes a simple transaction between two people, no bank or middleman involved.

The transaction is recorded on the blockchain and is essentially immutable (meaning it can’t be altered or hacked).

Benefits of Blockchain

By publishing your comic on the blockchain, you are making it digitally collectible. As the buyer of a blockchain comic, you can collect or resell your comics.

Every time a comic is resold, the original creator earns royalties from the resale.

Creators can publish what they want, without fear of being censored.

The Downside of Blockchain

This is still a new technology, and it can be hard to understand and trust.

Blockchain books must be purchased using cryptocurrency. Collectors must purchase cryptocurrency through an exchange, such as Coinbase or Transak. Learn more about this process here.

We are working hard to simplify this process. As more industries use blockchain, and more people make purchases with cryptocurrency, this tech will continue to grow.

Question: What are Age Filters?
Answer: You are able to control the content you see on CryptoComics. All publishers are required to set appropriate age ratings for the content they publish.

On the Marketplace page, you can set age filters for your account by clicking on the Age Filters link in the top right corner. (It is located in the same place in your Dashboard).

By clicking on that, you will be able to toggle on and off the age ratings of the books you would like to see in the Marketplace. Keep in mind that some books will not be visible if Age Filters are on turned on.

What the Ratings mean:

Children: These are books that are appropriate for viewing by all audiences, typically children's books, graphic novels, and comics created for children. Some Golden Age comics or other general audience art may also be included in this category.

Preteens: This content may include themes and reading level appropriate for slightly older children, 10 to 12 years of age. Parental guidance for younger children is suggested.

Young Adults: This rating includes books with themes and reading level appropriate for Young Adults, ages 13 to 17.

Mature Readers: This rating includes books with themes and reading levels intended for an older audience. Typically these books are meant for 17+ readers.

Adults Only: This rating includes books that contain explicit content considered NSFW. Some may include content disturbing for some readers, such as nudity, graphic violence, sexual violence, or sexual content.
