What is a Crypto Comic?
A Crypto Comic is how we refer to the comic books in the Marketplace that are purchased using cryptocurrency and minted on the blockchain.
We also call them "Media Tokens", from the acronym "NFT", which means Non Fungible Token. Something that is "Non Fungible" means it is unique or one-of-kind. Blockchain makes each copy of these NFT comics "Non Fungible".
But, all you need to know is that Crypto Comics are digital comic books that can include multimedia, such as animation or audio, that you can read and enjoy. You can collect or resell your comic books to others.
Let's look a little more closely at what you can do with a crypto comic.
Read and Download a PDF of your comic
Any comic you purchase is available to read at any time through your CryptoComics account. Creators can also choose to make a downloadable PDF available to read offline.
The online reader includes full audio, so creators can add commentary, audio books, or soundtracks to their comics. The digital reader in CryptoComics also includes other multimedia features, such as animation or video so creators can make their comics even more immersive.
Unique Mint Number and Comic History
Because each Crypto Comic is a unique digital collectible, you are able to identify the Mint Number (or Serial Number) of your copy, as well as look at the transaction history of that particular comic.
Blockchain is like a digital ledger that keeps track of each digital copy of a collectible item, like your comic, and tracks ownership. Don't worry, it doesn't show people your name, just the Wallet Address of the individual that owns the comic, and a history of each transfer the digital collectible Token goes through.
Resell Your Comic in the Marketplace
Once you've read your comic, you can choose to hold onto it in your collection, or list it for sale in the Marketplace.
You can choose to set the price based on a USD amount, or in the cryptocurrency of the blockchain Polygon, called POL.
Transfer your digital collectible comic to another wallet.
When you purchase a comic, it is automatically placed in your CryptoComics Wallet (we refer to this as your Custodial Wallet). If you would like to send this to a browser wallet, such as Brave or MetaMask, you can do this using the Transfer button.
This is also where you can send your Crypto Comic to another user's wallet.
NOTE: Be sure you have the correct Wallet Address. Once you send the comic, you cannot get it back.
Also, make sure you are sending to a Polygon address.
Set Ownership to Public or Private
Some collectible comics you may want to brag about owning - like one of the Martians vs Roughnecks that are sold out, or the special edition of Dreamkeeper's Volume 5 that only have a few copies available on the Aftermarket.
Other comics you may want to own privately. You can determine whether others can see the crypto comic in your collection, or if your ownership of that comic is hidden.
Note: The transaction history is still available publicly, but it only tracks your Wallet Address. As long as you keep your Wallet Address private, no one will know you own a comic.
Hopefully this helps you understand more about the difference between a crypto comic and a digital comic. Leave your questions in the comments or
